Where Our Water Comes From

In West Tennessee, we are blessed to be located on top of one of the best aquifers in the world. This buried treasure, called the Memphis Sands Aquifer, holds trillions of gallons of water that we consume every day in our homes and businesses. Here in West Tennessee, our water comes out of vast layers of sand as the aquifer’s name suggests. Underneath the sand layers are layers of clay that act as a membrane to allow the water to pool in the sand forming the aquifer.

Here at C&J, we can access this water by drilling down into the sand formation. We drill to the bottom of the target layer of sand and then we set a screen at the bottom of the bore hole. Next, we put a commercially sieved gravel pack around the screen to hold the sand away from the screen and help filter the sand out of the well. Finally, but most importantly, is the installation of the sealant to the bore hole. This prevents surface water from infiltrating and contaminating the well.

“Carl came out within a few hours of our call. He diagnosed and repaired our problem within an hour. He was up front about what could be potentially wrong and told us what things would cost on the front end. I will call him again next time I have a well issue!”

“What can I say other than LIFE SAVER!!! Carl, came out of his way to help two individuals in dire need! Great guy who is extremely nice as well as educated on teaching two “city water folk” the art of well maintenance. We will definitely recommend his service as well as continued business from us.
